Law professor Jonathon Weinberg is quoted in an article about whether use of e-mail by local municipal officials to discuss government-related business may be a violation of Michigan's Open Meetings Act. "Basically, the rule as far as e-mails are concerned is if there are conversations (public officials) can't have in person or over the telephone outside of a public open meeting, they also can't have them over e-mail," Weinberg explains.
